California Governor Gavin Newsom has once again taken aim at the Second Amendment – this time by banning the sale of new Glock pistols.
Under Assembly Bill 1127 (AB 1127), signed into law last week, California will prohibit the sale of new Glock pistols and other firearms that share similar design features, claiming they can be “easily modified” into fully automatic weapons. Current Glock owners won’t have to surrender their firearms, and resale remains legal, but new sales will be outlawed starting July 1, 2026.
Almost immediately, the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), and Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), filed a federal lawsuit – Jaymes v. Bonta – calling the law a blatant violation of the Constitution.
“The Second Amendment is not a second-class right,” SAF founder Alan Gottlieb said, accusing Newsom of “doubling down on unconstitutional laws” instead of learning from past court losses.
The NRA issued its own response to the new law, promising simply: “see you in court”
Critics argue the legislation targets lawful gun owners while doing little to stop the criminals who already break existing laws. The so-called “Glock switches” Newsom blames are already federally banned, yet California Democrats are using them as a justification to go after America’s most popular handgun.
Once again, Newsom and Sacramento politicians seem more focused on virtue-signaling gun control than actually tackling crime – and gun rights advocates are ready to fight back.
Next Generation America – Because our generation still believes in God, country, and the values that built America.
